Perhaps it’s been over a week, time isn’t real anymore. Regardless, I haven’t been reading as much the week, as I’ve been finishing up other projects.
A little about me, I am very much into crafting. I specialize in knitting (who would have guessed), but I also crochet, weave, spin, crank, embroider, sew; the list goes on. This week I’ve been giving my circular sock machine, Garrett, some more attention. What is a sock machine, you ask? Well, it’s what people used to make socks during war times, to help with the war effort. Instead of hand knitting every sock, you could crank out 1 every 20 minutes. Very schnazzy. My partner recently superglued some paint rollers into PVC fittings, then drilled holes into some wood, and suddenly, I had freely spinning yarn holding devices. It took a surprisingly long time to get to this point, as many of our projects require wandering around the hardware store picking up items and holding them next to other items to guess if it’ll work. It’s a good time, I’m assure you.
So now that my yarn can freely spin, I’ve been sock minded. But, I have been reading Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. I’m having quite a good time with it. This story is essentially: lesbian necromancers solve mysteries in space. I’m not kidding, that’s what they put in the splash text on the front. Gideon is our lucky lady who gets to share all of her thoughts with us at all times, and I wish she were real. We would get along probably. I’m not getting through it super quickly, but, still reading every day.
I went on to yammer more about chronic pain and the likes, but I’ve decided that I’ll save that for another day.
I hope the day treats you well
